Privacy Policy

This policy describes the information collected during a visit, why it is used, and the limited circumstances in which another party may receive it. By continuing to use Sullivan County Criminal History, you accept these practices.

Data You Give Us Directly

Search Queries

A name or place entered in a search tool is sent to the outside provider operating that tool. The provider processes the query and supplies its result. We do not keep or record those search terms on our systems.

Messages and Contact Submissions

An email or other direct message may be retained long enough to answer and maintain the correspondence. We keep it within our organization unless disclosure is required by law.

Data We Gather Automatically

Our servers receive routine technical details when a page loads, including:

  • Page-view dates and times
  • The referring site, when one is supplied
  • Pages viewed and approximate time spent on them
  • Device type and operating system
  • Browser name and version
  • The device's assigned IP address

Cookies and Analytics

Cookies are small files stored on a device. They and analytics services help us measure traffic, popular pages, and the point where a visit ends. Browser controls can block cookies, although some site functions may then behave differently.

What We Do With This Data

  • Route a submitted search to the selected partner
  • Maintain stable, responsive pages
  • Diagnose errors and other technical problems
  • Measure which material visitors use
  • Display advertising that may reflect visitor interests

No Criminal-Record Data on File

Sullivan County Criminal History does not compile, keep, or sell a database of personal criminal records. It publishes general directions to records held by the Sullivan County Sheriff's Office, local court clerks, the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, and the Tennessee Sex Offender Registry. We are not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act. Visitor information is not assembled into consumer reports or third-party criminal profiles.

Third-Party Search Partners

Outside companies operate the search boxes. Their own privacy policies govern any information submitted through those tools. Each partner controls its retention and disclosure practices, so review its terms before sending a query.

Links to Other Websites

Links lead to sheriff, court, Tennessee agency, legal-service, and third-party search websites. Their policies apply after a visitor leaves our pages. Check those policies before providing personal details.

Advertising partners may use their own systems to measure activity across websites and select ads.

Who Might See Your Data

We do not sell personal data. Limited information can be available to:

  • Government or law-enforcement bodies acting under a valid legal order
  • Advertising networks serving material on the pages
  • Analytics providers measuring use and performance
  • Search partners receiving a query submitted to their tool

How We Protect Your Data

Reasonable security measures help protect collected data. No internet service can guarantee complete security, so we cannot promise that unauthorized access will never occur.

Users Under 18

The service is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from a person under 18. If such information is identified, a deletion request may be submitted.

Your Data Rights

Applicable law may provide rights concerning personal data. Tennessee's Public Records Act, Tenn. Code Ann. §§ 10-7-503 and 10-7-504, governs access to government records and exceptions; it does not convert this private site into a county records custodian. Subject to the law that applies, you may:

  • Object to certain processing
  • Ask for deletion of data connected to you
  • Request correction of inaccurate information
  • Ask what personal information we retain about you
